Kyoto Protocol
In Japan 1997, 160 countries committed to reduce their environmental pollution emissions by signing the Kyoto-Protocol, a document from the UN Climate Convention (UNFCCC) in 1992. There were large concrete goals determined for individual substances and specific countries. A possibility for trade of emission rights was also arranged (e.g. Clean Development Mechanism).
